Mattress advice

We need to buy a new mattress and are soliciting advice. Anyone have one they LOVE? I think memory foam is too hot. It's awesome, it's the best . . .

We were watching Nacho Libre the other night and I can't stop laughing about the part where he tries to explain to the orphans how great his life is. They don't need to wrestle to have a great life. Just look at him. He wakes up every morning and makes soup, shops for food, picks up orphan chips . . . It's awesome! It's the best.
So, let's just admit it. Like Nacho, my life is not glamorous--AT ALL. I wake up in the morning, make breakfast, change diapers, do dishes, do laundry, put kids in time out . . .it's awesome! It's the best.
People love bringing up how Utah sells the most depression medication in the nation. My perspective on this little tidbit has changed a bit. Maybe we're actually not the most depressed, we just have this crazy idea that we shouldn't be depressed. We're suppose to love every minute of our lives and if we don't, something is really wrong with us. So, I'm learning to be more comfortable with feelings of fatigue, depression, boredom, suffering, and sorrow. Didn't the Savior himself weep on several occasions? Wasn't he angry, sad, hurt and even, dare I say, depressed?
When Ty says he's bored, I pipe right up. Most of life will be boring and hard work so if you don't learn to handle it now then you've got a long life ahead. So instead of being "depressed" about negative feelings I'm going to be more grateful for them.
Because I'm tired, I'm thrilled when I have energy. Because I'm bored, I'm easily entertained. Because I suffer, I can revel in good health. Because I'm sad, I can experience deeper joy. The time outs are what make those hugs and giggles so inexplicably wonderful. It's the BEST!
I LOVE your perspective! You are so right, the contrast is what makes us appreciate all aspects of life! Thank goodness for opposition in all things! And that quote from Nacho Libre is one of our favorites too. SUCH a good movie!

Thanks for the perspective on the downs of motherhood (especially with active boys!). I have a lot of the same feelings, thankfully the good days and good feelings more than balance out the bad ones!

Hats off to Ryan

So, three cheers for Ryan! Thank you for your time, your love, your humor, your creativity and yourself.
I always love your post. Ryan is so great. You two are the perfect match. Do you have a pool in your backyard? I notice a basketball court and a gate around a pool. I can see why you have no need to go anywhere. It sounds like a wonderful summer (minus the surgery). At least it's over with. The boys are getting so big. Do you have a special smoothie recipe? I think I am going to bring the kids to Utah in September for Tyler's homecoming (if the price of tickets go down a little). It will be so fun to see you.

Summer Fun
Hi, Heatons! I just heard from Luella out of the blue, and I noticed that you guys on her blog. Sorry to hear about the tonsils Tammie- I did that a couple of years ago and it was not my favorite. My dr. warned me that it was less fun than child birth... though it will be a few months until I'll know how it compares to having twins. Hope you guys are doing well!

Looks like you guys are having tons of fun! What a great summer. Too bad about the tonsillectemy... remember when I had mine? Senior year...you and Ryan came over with Jeannie, Devin and Darin and brought me a shake. Good memories!

Hey! I think I was on that shake run, too! I would totally bring you one if I could, Tamie.

Summer Friends
The kids took soccer for a week in June. Jo is by Tanner and they have been superhero buddies who play every day. Brian is on Ty's right and they have really hit it off as well. We love our great friends.
It's so fun to read about your family. It looks like you guys are having a great summer (minus your tonsil removal--bummer). You have an adorable family!

I've been so bad about keeping up on the blogging thing... I think the foam matresses SUCK. We have a pillow top and I like it, but since I'm prego my back always hurts these days... so I'm not really the one to ask about mattresses.
I hope you are feeling better after getting your tonsils out. I got mine out a little over 2 years ago and it SUCKED so bad. I can honestly say it's worse than anything I've ever done. Even child labor...
Excel gym changed over to 24 hour fitness at Jordan Landing and I got a membership there. Childcare is free and I pay the same as I did at Golds and it's closer! YEAH! I was really dilegent for awhile, but the kiddos have been sick and I was out of town for awhile. I'm planning on working out the rest of this week. Wish me luck. Are you working out at Golds still?

Our mattress is over 5 years old, but we still totally love it like the first day we got it. I don't know brand (without ripping the sheets off--which I'm not willing to do at this point in my day). Anyway, if you remember the commercials where they set up bowling pins on the bed and then drop the bowling ball without disturbing the pins...that's the bed we have and love so much!
Good luck finding the right one for you guys!

Zip, none, zero...nothing. Considering we have and will have for many more years Paul's bed from his single years I can't help you. Tell us which one you chose because I would love to know!

We bought a mattress last summer and learned from many people and consumer reports that pillow tops last about a year (or less). We like the memory foam mattress that we bought- it has a fabric layer over the foam, and we have a mattress cover over the mattress so we haven't noticed that it is too hot. In our research we noticed that everyone likes Serta and Seally best. We ended up with a Kingsdown mattress that we are totally happy with (much more pricey than we would normally get) because we found a great deal when all the stores had to quickly liquidate all their inventory after new legislation on mattresses standards was passed last summer. Good luck!
